Gas and Electric Utility Companies Team Up with Centreville
Utilities have special unique needs when buying trucks and trailers. They struggle trying to get a manufacturer to both understand and respond to those special needs. We rise to the top when a customer can't use an "off the shelf" product. Here are some examples:
We built this trailer to make cable lug crimping easy. Everything needed to do this work is on the trailer including dies and the hydraulic pump. Note the extra feature of the adjustable cable support holder and the special pintle hitch with generous height adjustment.
This Transformer Oil trailer was designed and custom made to change transformer oil in the field. The trailer includes the multi-compartment tank (for both old and new oil), pumps, hoses, fittings and extra deck space to carry damaged transformers from the field. A locking tool box allows for theft protection while on jobsites.
We built this trailer used to train linemen. It is equipped with actual poles and pole mounted transformers, cross-arms, conductors, fuse holders and any other parts that would be on a typical overhead service. The trailer is towed to the various yards for training. In the winter months, this is used indoors for year around training.
When emergencies arise, utility companies must be ready to go, and we are proud to help them get there. We work closely with the fleet managers, the users and the mechanics to build problems out before we start a new trailer project.
We made this special trailer front end to solve an ongoing problem. The extended tongue allows the trailer to make a much sharper turn when towed by a bucket truck. These trucks need to go where the action is, most times off road during bad weather conditions. Not being able to make a tight turn is not an option for these crews. This simple design has greatly reduced trailer and truck damage. This trailer is used to transport a mini excavator. Note the "quick pin" bucket holder rack on the front of the trailer.
This utility had us build hot dip galvanized trailers equipped with 4 piston hydraulic disc brakes. The tandem 8,000 lb. axles will keep this trailer out of the shop and in the field.
Note the built in wheel chock holders and special light boxes that protect the lights from damage. The fender is our heavy duty diamond plate design, and the decking is Apitong hardwood. This is heavy duty!
We built this heavy duty 10 ton air brake trailer that incorporates a permanently mounted pivoting cable reel stand. This allows perfect alignment when paying out cable overhead, but also allows cable to be laid directly on the ground while driving alongside an excavated trench. Special care was taken to place the axles under the trailer in the optimum position to manage tongue weight while towing.
If your utility is innovative, we think you should buy from a manufacturer that thinks the way you do. Give us your next challenge; we will prove ourselves to you.
